Imaginisce I-magicut Review

i-magicut ribbon cutter & sealer by Imaginisce

Hello all, I am doing a step by step review/tutorial of this amazing little item that has made my life so much simpler. Gone are the days of cutting ribbon then running the end over a flame to seal it while inhaling the fumes and burning my self on occasion.
Measures 5 inches in length by 1 & 1/2 inches high allowing you  to cut ribbon up to 3 inches wide.

Opens nice and wide so you can see what you are doing.
The bottom has guides to assists you in various angled cuts. Also has a guide in the center that helps you see where the cut will be made and rubber pads on the sides to help keep your ribbon in place for a more precise cut.
The top of the device opens nice and wide and has the wire recessed in a crevice to avoid accidents. The top also has the rubber pads that keep the ribbon secure.
Bottom of the device has a warning and the battery cover. It takes 4 AA batteries.
The top of the device has an on/off switch so you can travel with it and be at ease knowing it's off and not going to catch your crafts on fire.
I've turned on the device so that it can warm up. I turn it on while I'm measuring out my ribbon. It doesn't take long to warm up so it's okay if you forget to turn it on.

I put a small crease in my ribbon so that I can line it up with that line that goes down the center of the recessed crevice.

See how nice and easy this is to use.  I line the ribbon up with the guides on the cutter to be sure I'm getting a straight cut.
This is what your ribbon will look like once it is loaded and ready to be cut and sealed.
Push down on the button for a few seconds. I hold it down for 3 seconds if I've allowed it to warm while measuring my ribbon. If I forgot to let it heat up I have to count to 5 or 6.
Viola! Nice sealed ribbon edges. BOTH sides of the ribbon are sealed. Now you can store your ribbon without it fraying. I love that. I usually would only seal the ribbon I was using for crafting, then when I'd go to use the ribbon I've stored and it would be all frayed and ugly.

Isn't that just beautiful? Straight sealed edge, no dark burn marks at all.
Now, if you want a fancy edge just fold the ribbon in half length wise.

Line it up with the angle you want.

Close the top and press and seal. I recommend holding this down for at least 5 seconds even if you let it pre-heat. Just to make sure it cuts through both layers.
There you go, nice sealed edges and no fraying.

I really do like this little machine. I'd rate it a 4 out of 5. Has a nice solid durable design. Pleasing to the eye. It would be better if it came with a charger or an adapter to plug in. The top does become a little warm, I don't know if this will be an issue later but something to take note. I'll up-date later with battery life once I get an idea of how long the batteries last. Also keep in mind that this is just for ribbon and more importantly for synthetic ribbon. This is not to be used with cotton or ribbon with a wire edge.
It costs about $20+ dollars online. I was able to find it at a local craft store for $24.99 but was able to use a coupon on it so I saved big time! You can usually get 40% off coupons for your big craft store chains on-line and most will take the code off your smart phone so no need to print it out. I found mine in the ribbon aisle. Just happened to stumble across it and was ecstatic. They have been sold out of it on-line at many stores so you can imagine the joy that I had when finding it.
The official site for this item can be found here. Goes over the specs of the item and they have some pretty cool stuff there as well.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions. Also, if you have one let me know what cool things you found to do with it.
  Happy Crafting!
